Robert "Bobby" Leon Gossett

SHELBY- Robert "Bobby" Leon Gossett was born in Spartanburg S.C. on August 14, 1948 to the late John Walter Gossett Jr. and Corran "Pete" Morgan Gossett. He attended Dorman High School in Spartanburg, S.C. and received his diploma from Shelby High School. He then went to Cleveland Community College where he earned two degrees. Bobby also served two years in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Vietnam.

Sadly, Bobby passed away at Hospice of Cleveland County on December 27th, 2017 after he lost his long battle with multiple types of cancer. He was a retired technician of Fiber/Ticona Industries. Bobby loved his family, fishing, camping, and woodworking. He had always been a hard worker and often worked two jobs.

Living and missing him already are his wife of 45 years Sandra Leonhart Gossett of Shelby, N.C.,  his daughters Lisa Robin Gossett Carter (Jamie David Carter) of Shelby N.C. and Genette Edwards Spear of Harlington, T.X., his grandchildren Kenneth Alan Gossett (Chelsea Gossett), Allison Jade Carter, Madison Elizabeth Carter of Shelby N.C. and Elizabeth Oerther, Victoria Oerther, and Stephanie Spear of Harlington T.X., his brother Ronnie Joe Gossett of Quinton, V.A., and Nephews John Gossett (Barbara Gossett) their kids Brandi and Lee Gossett, Joey Gossett (Jennifer Gossett) and their kids Kira and Krista Gossett and granddaughter Addison Gossett of Quinton, V.A., Sister in law Nannete Leonhart and children Wilson Biggerstaff, Jamie Melton (Billy Melton) family of Shelby, N.C., and Julie White (James White) family of Charlotte N.C.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Polkville Baptist Church, 4214 Polkville Road, Polkville, NC 28136 with Pastor Rick Hamrick officiating. The receiving of friends will be held from 2-3 PM.
