Jimmy Roosevelt Stamey

CONNELLEY SPRINGS - Jimmy Roosevelt Stamey, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at Grace Hospital. He was born on March 16, 1934, to the late William P. and Teanie Swink Stamey. He is also predeceased by his wife, Margaret Jeanette Newton Stamey; four brothers, Tommy Stamey, Jack Stamey, Howard Stamey, Leroy Stamey and Johnny Matthews; sisters, Gladys Ramsey and Barbara Denton.

Jimmy is survived by his sons, Jimmy Stamey and wife, Kim, Chris Stamey and wife, Ann; daughters, Brenda Wright and husband Clarence and Darlene Teague and fiance' Russell Hudson; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Stamey, Jr; sisters, JoAnn Smith, Linda K. Fraley and Clara Bell Stamey; numerous nieces and nephews. 

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at St. Paul Baptist Church, 311 Hull Road, Lawndale, NC with Pastor Keith Fulbright officiating. A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to donors choice.
