William (Bill) Edward Selph, 77, of Shelby, NC, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Bill was born in Fulton County, GA to the late William Marvin Selph and Virginia Hemphill Selph.
Bill Selph was a multi-faceted personality who was employed as the recruiting officer for Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, served a short stent in the Army in Okinawa, and worked as a local Banking Officer. His love of animals, especially horses, involved him in many riding excursions with groups of friends along the North Carolina trails. Fly fishing in the nearby streams and rivers gave him great pleasures, as well. He learned how to tie fly-fishing lures and spent much time and money teaching any young person who shared that interest. Tennis was the sport Bill enjoyed playing, coaching, and in his later years, watching college play. Anyone who knew Bill in any of these areas knew that his heart was guided by the joy of giving of himself, of his belongings, and of his exuberance.
Bill Selph is survived by his sisters, Elaine Harris (John) of Alpharetta, GA, Diane Bullard of McKinney, TX and Susan Selph of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Charlie Dyer (Becky) of McKinney, TX and David Harris of Alpharetta, GA. After the cremation, Bill Selph's remains will be scattered at his beloved Grandparent's Homeplace in Chatsworth, GA, by his family.
