Bob Kornegay was my neighbor, my teacher and my friend. He taught me how to grow a garden in soil that wouldn't grow a weed before we started. He was always in good spirits, even when you knew he wasn't well. He inspired me to be a better person and to love and respect all those around me. In his last years we spent many evenings just talking, listening to music, eating together, and he even tried to teach me to play guitar. He wasn't very successful in that but we had a great time nevertheless. As his health deteriorated I tried to look after him but you could tell that for some reason his heart was broken. He was SOOO proud of his children, especially Jade, and was always ecstatic to hear from them. Always smiling, always positive, he was a good soul. The world is a poorer place without him. I miss you brother, rest in peace.

Bob and I met through our music and were friends in High School. We even performed together in a folk group. I lost touch with him during college and tried to find him many times without success. I found out just a few days ago that he passed away and it broke my heart that I was not able to see him again. I am glad to hear he had wonderful friends and family to care for him. I will always remember his kindness and exceptional talent.
