Robert Francis Ayers, Jr.

Robert Ayers, age 80,  of Cliffside, NC, passed away in his home on Thursday, April 20, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.  He was born in Harris, NC, attended Chase High School and then served 9 years in the Army.  He was retired from Timken in Gaffney. 

He is predeceased by his daughter, Tammy Ayers; parents, Robert Ayers, Sr. and Emma Gooden Ayers; brother, Dewitt Ayers; sisters, Ruth Ayers, Lois Ayers Parton, Mary Henson, Ruby Campbell and Juanita Roper.

Robert, Jr. leaves behind to cherish his memories his daughters, Sheila Ayers and Sherry Hinson; son, Robert David Ayers; 9 grandchildren, Nikki Henson, Jessie Ayers, Terry Ayers, Parkin Ayers, Christin Finley, Cole Finley, Ashley Harris-Norwood, Kelly Penson and Michael Hall; 13 great-grandchildren, Alexis Allen, Caden Ayers, Kelsey Ayers, Jason Paredes, Jr., Isaiah Paredes, Alyssa Branch, Easton Dunaway, Ayden Finley, Lily Finley, Elijah Love, Royston Ayers, Felix Mathis and Laela Penson; brothers, Bobby Ayers and Ray Ayers.

He will be remembered for his love of his family most of all. He loved to fish and also enjoyed hiking, camping, boating, cooking, and spending time with his family. He was a kind and caring soul and he will be deeply missed by all that knew him. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 06, 2023 at Prospect Baptist Church Social Hall, 2610 Prospect Church Road, Mooresboro NC  28114.
