SHELBY - Norma Sue Taylor Barrett, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 05, 2021 at Fairhaven of Forest City. She is predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Claud Van Buren Barrett; infant daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Barrett; parents, Eddie Carlton and Myrtle Bell Taylor, Blacksburg, SC; brother, Gene Taylor, Gaffney, SC; father and mother-in-law, Charles Van Buren and Biddie Elizabeth Gladden Barrett, Kings Mountain; brother-in-laws, Ambers Henderson, Kings Mountain, James Waters, Shelby, Don Barrett, Charlotte, Steve Barrett, Kings Mountain and Ray Barrett, Rock Hill, SC; sister-in laws, Sue Jane Henderson, Kings Mountain, Golden "Goldie" Barrett Waters, Shelby and Brenda Barrett, Charlotte; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; poodle, Angel.

Norma Sue is survived by her daughter, Renee Barrett Cumberlander (James) of Shelby, son, Stacey Barrett (Pam Boyer) of Charlotte and daughter, Heidi Barrett Morgan (Robbie) of Lawndale; grandchildren, Meloni Brogden,of Forest City, Ashley McSwain (Chad) of Shelby, Joshua "Josh" Brogden (Janet) of Alabama, Caleb Brogden (Crystal Scruggs) of Mooresboro, Taylor and Cody Barrett of Charlotte; great-grandchildren, Alane Patton of Forest City, Chloe, Anna and soon to be Baby McSwain of Shelby, Emily Turner (Davy Goodman) of Sumter, SC, Will and Marianna Brogden of Alabama; great-great-grandchildren, Colton and Morgan Goodman, siblings, Shirley Taylor Ranke (Donald) of Georgia and Flora Taylor Smith (John) of Cashiers, NC; sister-in-laws, Billie Taylor of Gaffney, SC, Rita Barrett Lawing (Doug) of Kings Mountain and Becky Payne Barrett of Rock Hill, SC; special numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was born in Blacksburg, SC and moved to Shelby after marrying the love of her life and resided in Shelby for more than 60 years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Shelby. She worked at various mills and retired from Fiber Industries/Hearst Celeanse after 27 years of service. She was a wonderful cook and a great seamstress. She made the best Red Velvet Cake, Chicken and Dumplings and Spaghetti and made clothing for her children and others. She enjoyed listening to Gospel music, playing bingo, fishing, working puzzles, working in her flowers, talking on the phone and spending time with her family. She will forever be in our hearts.

Private Graveside Services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Music/General Fund, 606 South Dekalb Street, Shelby, NC 28150.
