Michael Alan Penner

GASTONIA - Michael "Alan" Penner, 64, of Gastonia, NC passed away on January 25, 2022.

Alan was the son of Buddy and the late Laura Jean Morrison Penner. Alan worked as Landscape Coordinator for Gaston County Parks and Recreation for 20 years. He was a horticulturalist for Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens for 10 years where he gained his great love for all things growing. Alan was an avid fisherman and hunter. He had a beautiful singing voice if you ever had the pleasure of hearing it. Alan was soft spoken, kindhearted and had a great sense of humor. 
 
Alan is survived by a loving family: wife, Monie Penner;  father, Buddy Penner (Jo); sisters, Carlotta Anderson (Richard) and Bridget Penner; daughter, Shelly Toney (Matt);  step-daughter, Alicia Carter (Wayne); grandchildren, Ryleigh and Hayden Hendrick;  step-grandchildren, Deanna Humphries (Kannan), Dillon Carter, Jordan and Reagan Toney; cousin and friend, Doug Bell; many cousins that loved him as well.
