GASTONIA - James Arthur Swanson, Jr., age 59, passed away on Friday, July 03, 2020 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, NC. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Chief James A. Swanson, Sr. and Mary Flanagan; son, James A. Swanson III (Lil Man).

James leaves behind to cherish his memories his spouse, Penny Ledford Swanson of the home; daughters, Crystal Hughes (Jason) and Melissa (Mike); grandchildren, Kaine, Gaige, Malea, and Mikensie; great-grandchild, Kalem; sisters, Janie, Vickey, & Mary Jane; special friends, David Deal and Danny Moreno.

James served in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, playing drums, and spending time with his wife. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. James never met a stranger and had many special friends that he considered family. He will forever be loved and missed.

Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church, 1534 Rolling Meadow Lane, Gastonia, NC 28054.
