GASTONIA - James Marshall Self, age 72, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020. He is predeceased by his parents, James Self and Mary Sue Ramsey Self; son, Terry Self; brother, Billy Self; sister, Shirley Tignor; nephew, David Deal.

James was a Disabled Veteran that served in the United States Marines. He will be missed by all of those who loved and knew him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his significant other, Linda Self; daughter, Tiffany Michelle Self; sister, Evelyn Day; brothers, James Self, Jr. and Steve Self; step-father, Frank Ramsey; nephews, Larry Deal and Rick Rush; nieces, Kim Day, Susan Deal and Lisa Self; four grandchildren, Kenneth Allen Hughes, Jr., Charlotte C. Hughes, Taylor M. Ivester and James Nolen Ivester.

The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the Funeral Home at 132 East College Avenue, Shelby, NC 28152.
