James Alfred "Pop/Bill" Gilliam, 83, passed away on Thursday, June 08, 2023 while at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was born in Cherokee, SC to the late Alfred Gilliam and Geneva Jackson Gilliam. He is also predeceased by 3 brothers, Charles Gilliam, Bobby Gilliam and Jr. Gilliam.
Left behind to cherish are his wife, Martha Gilliam of the home; son, Michael Gilliam (Dawn); grandchildren, Jamie Gilliam (Teaira Black), Jayda Gilliam and Makenly Gilliam (Jaden Weaver); 2 future great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Walker and Margaret Black (Elmer).
He worked at Grover Industries for many years. His previous jobs were Cattle Farming, raising hogs and chickens. "Pop" enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to auctions all while drinking his black coffee. He was married to the love of his life for 53 years. During those years, they raised a son, gained a daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren. Those 3 grandchildren helped with shucking corn, breaking beans, baiting for and skinning deer. "Pop" left this world knowing he had 2 great-grandchildren on the way, and that, "The Boss" , Makenly was getting married later this year. He financially didn't have much, but his legacy is worth more than money.
