Hugh Lewis Smith

Hugh Lewis Smith, 85, of South Morgan Street, Shelby, North Carolina passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.

Hugh was born on April 23, 1939 in Cleveland County, Shelby, North Carolina to the late Hughlon Dixon Smith and Kitty Ross Harrill Smith. Hugh graduated from Boiling Springs High School and went on to earn degrees from Gardner-Webb Junior College and Chapel Hill. He taught school at Crest High School. Later, he worked for Coca-Cola in Atlanta and was a business owner in Atlanta.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his only sibling, Johnnie Mae Smith Hamrick.

Hugh is survived by a nephew and numerous cousins. Special "Thanks" to Direk Shaw, a longtime caregiver.

A Graveside Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, December 07, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Sharon church Cemetery.
