Deborah Viola (Grahl) Johnson

Deborah Viola Grahl Johnson, 67, passed away on Friday, September 01, 2023 while at Atrium Healthcare Cleveland. She was born in Cleveland County to the late James Grahl and Geraldine Robertson. She is also predeceased by a brother, Rick Grahl.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Chad J. Smith; daughter-in-law, Anne Mungai; grandchildren, Nicole K. Petty and Jaleel A. Petty; great-grandchildren, Arden A. Petty and Malanah J. Petty; brothers, Phillip Grahl and Scott Grahl; sister-friend, Barbara Barnes; special friend, Rick Ingle.

Deborah had a deep affection for animals and was never without a furry companion. She generously volunteered to foster pets in need. She had a passion for vintage hunting and thrift shopping, and had a knack for finding hidden gems and one-of-a-kind items. To unwind, she would play her favorite computer games. A firm but nurturing grandmother, she was thrilled when she became a great-grandmother. 

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:30 pm on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Springmore Baptist Church, 651 McBrayer Homestead Road, Shelby, NC 28152 with Pastor Tim Norman officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
