Ruth Martin Gambill

SHELBY - Mrs. Ruth Martin Gambill, 95, of Elkin, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. She is preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Everette Gambill, step-daughter Marie Gambill Johnson, parents John Clinton and Carrie Sparks Martin, and nine brothers and sisters: Paul Martin, Sam Martin, Nora Lee Stewart Womble, May Rhyne, Reese Martin, Lloyd Martin, Lonnie Martin, Ralph Martin and Gwyn Martin.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher Reginald Gambill (Joy) of Winston-Salem and Martin Neil Gambill (Sherri) of Shelby; seven grandchildren,  Gregory Johnson (Sherry) of Gastonia, Melissa Johnson Lynch (Michael) of Gastonia, Garret Gambill (Lori) of Shelby, Tyler Gambill of Shelby, Tanner Gambill (Kayleigh) of Shelby, Macon Gambill of Carrboro, Katherine Gambill of Winston-Salem; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gambill retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company after 52 years of service and was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church.

A funeral for Mrs. Gambill will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Blevins officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Elkin Valley Baptist Church cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Elkin Valley Baptist Church, 118 N. Elkin Drive, Elkin, NC 28621.
