Joseph Emmitt Poteat

STANLEY - Joseph "Joe" Emmitt Poteat, 55, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, September 3, 2017. He is predeceased by his mother, Margaret Etters Poteat. 

Joe leaves behind to cherish his memories his father, Horace "Red" Poteat, VA Hospital of Salisbury; daughter, Kristina Ross and her husband Jarrett of Denver, NC, daughter, Danielle Poteat of Wilmington, NC and daughter, Erin Poteat of Gastonia; sister, Carmen Geiger and husband Mark of Charlotte, NC; niece, Holly Lee and her husband Andrew of Wilson, NC; nephew, Drew Geiger of Seattle, WA; great-niece, Virginia Lee; great-nephew, Nathanael Lee of Wilson, NC; numerous cousins; a special friend, Sally Green.

Joe was a Christian, he loved the Lord, accepted him and tried so hard to be the good man we knew he could be. He was born in Charlotte, NC on September 28, 1961, he went to East Gaston High School (Class of '79) and also studied at Central Piedmont Community College. He will truly be missed and forever loved.

A memorial service will be held Friday evening, September 8th, 2017 at 7:30 PM at First Baptist Church Stanley, 409 Old Mt Holly Rd, Stanley, NC 28164 with Pastor Jason Hager officiating. Visitation with family will be from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. We hope that you will join us to celebrate our father's life.
