SHELBY - James Leonder St. Peter, 56, of Shelby, NC, and longtime resident of Harrisville, NH, passed away May 18, 2018 at Atrium (Carolinas Healthcare) Main in Charlotte, NC after a period of failing health, surrounded by his children and family.
James was born on August 23rd 1961, in Keene, NH, to the late John William St. Peter, Sr. and Marilyn Audrey (Tarr) St. Peter. He was raised in Harrisville and attended schools in Harrisville and Keene, graduating from Keene High School in 1979. He joined the Untied States Army in 1982 but was honorably medically discharged due to a knee injury during training. He returned to Harrisville where he met his former wife and raised his family. James served his community as a volunteer on the Harrisville Fire Department, first in his late teens and then joined again from 1998-2007, holding the rank of 1st and 2nd Lieutenant. He worked as an auto mechanic at area shops before going to New England Business Service where he spent almost 20 years as a senior mechanic. Later in his life he relocated to NC where he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and working on homes with his daughter, he always had a project going.
James is survived by his sons, Aron St. Peter of Swanzey, NH, and Nathan St. Peter of Marlborough, NH. His daughter Meghan Wright and her husband, Steven, and four children, Scott, Jennifer, Kaelyn and Emma, all of Shelby, NC. His brother Billy St. Peter of Troy, NH, sisters Laura Trudelle and Dawn Duffy, and her husband Rand, all of Harrisville, NH. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a celebration of life in memory of James (Jimmy), this summer in Harrisville, NH.
