Earnest "Dickie" Troy Kelly

SHELBY - Mr. Earnest "Dickie" Troy Kelly, 73, a native of Cleveland County, gained his angel wings on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born to the late Claude and Zellie Robinson Kelly on May 24, 1944. He is also predeceased by two sisters, Grace Tessneer and Virginia Lail; two brothers, Bud Hines and Gene Kelly.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Teresa K. Kelly of the home; daughter, Barbara Truelove (Rick) of Ellenboro; son, Earnest "Earnie" Troy Kelly, Jr. of Shelby; daughter-in-law, Gretchen Carrol; four grandchildren, Evan Truelove (Jamie) of Charlotte, Sarah Greene (David) of Ellenboro, Tiffany Havro (Jerry) of Ellenboro and Victoria Carrol; five great-grandchildren, Marissa, Will, Khira, Madelyn and Emma all of Ellenboro; one brother, Jimmy Kelly (Ellen) of Lawndale, two sisters Pearl and Gloria Head both of Shelby; numerous nieces and nephews; two dog, Rebbles and Candy Girl.

"Dickie" was a retired mechanic from Rogers Pontiac of Shelby. After retirement he continued to be a shade-tree mechanic. He enjoyed watching westerns, fishing, squirrel hunting and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He was and always will be very loved and truly missed! 

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at House of Prayer Baptist Church, Shelby, NC (off of Hwy. 18) on Thursday, October 26, 2017 with Rev. Clyde Price officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 - 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment held following the service at the Church.
