Ray Edward Smith

GASTONIA - Ray Edward Smith, 61, passed away on July 25, 2017 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born to the late Ernest and Thelma Smith Sweat on June 2, 1956 in Illinois. He is also predeceased by his sister, Rosemary Grice.

Ray leaves behind to cherish his memories his two children, Eric Smith and Melinda Maney; two grandchildren,  Kaitlyn Maney, Jacob Maney; siblings, Dean Smith of Lancaster, SC, Barbara Russell of Lake Wylie, SC, Inez Willis of Gastonia, NC, Nolia Sweat of Gastonia, NC, Robert  Smith of Gastonia, NC and Edward Smith of Gastonia, NC.

Ray was a very kind and gentle man who loved God and his family more than anything. He was a fan of art and loved drawing or painting, He enjoyed designing graphical designs plus RPG games as well. He loved his grandkids very much and they were something very special to him. He was known for putting a smile on your face and didn't mind to act goofy sometimes! He loved to laugh and spend time with family. He was a wonderful man who will be missed dearly. Forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of life service will be held from 12 - 4 PM, Saturday, July 29, 2017 at The Freewill Church of Jesus Christ, 145 Hamrick Road, Gastonia, NC 28056. 

Robert Morgan Funeral and Cremation Service is entrusted to handle the services.
