Gertie Francis (Spake) Self

CASAR - Gertie Francis Self, 80,  passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She  was born to the late Johnnie and Bonnie Warlick Spake on December 20, 1936. She is also predeceased by a son, Michael Martin of Casar; a great-grandchild, Ethan Martin of Shelby; a special friend, Colon Propst of Casar.

Gertie leaves behind to cherish her memories her six children, Judy Elliott (James) of Polkville, Rita Thomason (Roger) of Casar, Becky Jones (Jimmie) of Shelby, Johnny Martin (Juanita) of Rock Hill, Vicki Pearson (Ray) of Lawndale, Nancy Martin of Casar; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren.

She was a dedicated member of Olive Grove Baptist Church in Casar. She also enjoyed watching and listening to Bill Gaither music and made all types of crafts.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Olive Grove Baptist Church, Leman Gap Road, Casar, NC 28020 with Pastor Terrell Crump and Pastor Jeff Hicks officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights, Shelby, NC.
