Able Smith, Jr.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Able Smith Jr., 69, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late Able Sr. and Susie Wilson Smith on April 13, 1948. He is also proceeded in death by a son, Jermaine Smith; four brothers, Willie, Ray, Larry and Marvin Smith; two sisters, Georgia Sanders and Diane Brown.

Able "Junior" leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 50 years, Betty Smith of Shelby; four children, Demetris Bess (LeWanda) of Kings Mountain, Belinda Bess (Randy) of Bessemer City, Ella Watson of Charlotte and Kimberly Moore of Shelby; one sister, Patricia Craig (Lenny) of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Edward Smith and Howard Smith (significant other, Phylis) all of Shelby; three sister-in-laws, Marie Smith, Tawana Smith and Gloria Smith; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one special daughter, Sherrwyna Robbins; one special nephew, Anthony Smith; a host of nieces and nephews.

He was a dedicated member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Bessemer City. He loved the Lord and singing in the church choir. His favorite hobby was watching sports and his favorite teams were Green Bay Packers and the Nicks. Able Jr., will truly be missed in our hearts, minds and souls.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 1420 Crowders Mountain Road, Bessemer City, NC 28016 with Rev. Thurman Clark officiating. Quiet time will be at 12:30 PM.
